Micro-generation Proposal
The AESO has proposed a recommendation on the need for an interim process for micro-generation due to various interpretations by industry players on Section 18(2) of the Electric Utilities Act requiring all electric energy to be exchanged through the power pool.
This process would provide clarity to Distribution-connected Generator Owners (DGO's), Wire Service Providers (WSP's), Load Settlement Agents (LSA's) and other interested parties until such time that the Department of Energy (DOE) issues a policy paper on micro-generation.
The AESO is seeking stakeholder input considering factors such as AESO visibility and/or requirements, metering/data requirements, and energy payments on proposed recommendations. Please note that this is not an AESO rule or policy change.
