Can you imagine a day without power? Neither can we. Our team puts its passion, expertise and skills to work every day to ensure the lights stay on in Alberta.
Why work at the AESO?
As a not-for-profit, the Alberta Electric System Operator (AESO) exists to protect the province’s electricity needs. Our employees take pride in supporting this essential service for the province and operating in the best interests of all Albertans.
A primarily technical workforce, the AESO provides employees with the opportunity to work with an experienced team of technical experts who often have specialized skill sets unique to the electricity industry. In fact, the AESO was recently recognized by a provincial government-appointed committee as having “greater specialized knowledge of the Alberta electric demand than any other single organization.”
What is the AESO’s culture?
The AESO’s culture stems from our four core principles.
We proactively serve the interests of all Albertans. We are objective, focused and dependable.
We deliver high quality work, focus on where we add value and seek to continuously improve. We take pride in effectively executing our mandate.
We earn the respect and trust of our stakeholders by providing fair, efficient and reliable service and through clear, timely and transparent communication.
We foster an environment of respect, excel at collaboration and have great expectations of one another. Living up to our commitments enables us to be part of a successful team and a great organization.
What does the AESO offer?
The AESO offers a competitive salary and flexible benefits plan that is reviewed each year and benchmarked within the energy industry to ensure we remain competitive.
The benefits plan allows employees to tailor their benefits according to their individual situation, based on single or family coverage needs.

- Six flex days and six AESO Days Off (company-wide paid days off)
