Business Plan and Budget Stakeholder Consultation
The Budget Review Committee, or BRC, was established in 2005 to provide stakeholders with greater transparency of the AESO’s planning processes and increased understanding of the operations of the organization. The consultation was also aimed at finding efficiencies to facilitate the regulatory process with respect to the approval of the AESO's “Own Costs”. The Transmission Regulation AR 86/2007, which was approved on April 11, 2007, confirms the AESO's obligation to consult with participants who are affected by these costs (Section 3(1)(b)).
The intent of this year's Budget Review Process is largely the same as that undertaken by the AESO and several stakeholders in 2007 in respect of the AESO's 2008-09 business priorities and budgets. That is, to assist the AESO Board in making a decision in respect of the AESO's budgeted Own Costs and forecasted Ancillary Services (AS) and Line Loss costs in consideration of input from stakeholders who are impacted by these costs.
As a first step in this process, the AESO will invite stakeholders to a meeting on Wednesday, April 29, 2009 to discuss the objective of this year’s consultation and timeline.
