Confidence Band Letter to Stakeholders

As part of the Alberta Electric System Operator (AESO)’s ongoing efforts to improve our load forecasting process, after the AESO published the 2007 Long Term Forecast, we hired consultants EDC and Associates and Philip Carter to recommend a methodology for the determination of confidence bands in the Forecast.

The results of this work complete with results can be found in the following report “Developing Confidence Intervals for the AESO’s Long Term Load Forecast – Methodology and Results” (May 7, 2008). The AESO plans to incorporate a similar methodology in future Long Term Load Forecasts.
