Hanna Region Transmission Development
The AESO is responsible for the safe, reliable and economic planning and operation of the Alberta Interconnected Electric System (AIES). As such, we have identified current and future proposals for a significant increase in wind power generation projects throughout East Central Alberta. Also, demand for electricity in the Hanna region is forecast to increase. Pipeline development is the main driver for this increase. The AESO is currently investigating the need to reinforce the transmission system to meet the increasing demand for electricity so that these generation projects can be connected reliably to the provincial grid.
At an information session held Friday, June 19, the AESO gave stakeholders an overview of the proposed alternatives for Transmission Renforcement in the Hanna region. Please click here to view the presentation.
