10-Year Plan

The 10-Year Transmission System Plan is prepared to provide market participants, customers and interested stakeholders with a view of Alberta’s transmission system development over the next 10 years. The plan is a proactive, balanced, flexible and prudent approach to transmission infrastructure in Alberta. It will result in a robust transmission system that will provide reliable service to Albertans over the 10-year period and facilitate a competitive marketplace that recognizes investment in new generation depends on an open and efficient transmission system.

We have been targeting year end for the release of the 10-Year Transmission System Plan and have been consulting with both industry and government departments on its overall progress and at each stage of content development.

The document is in the final stages and we believe it is consistent and aligned with the provincial government's recently released Provincial Energy Strategy. Given the longer term implications of both documents, we are going to review the complete 10-Year Plan and 20-Year Outlook with the AESO board and with government before public release. We will continue to keep stakeholders apprised of the status of the plan.
