Policy & Regulation
The DOE released a revised Transmission Regulation on April 11, 2007, to provide a mechanism for implementation of the policy discussed in the above papers. The revised regulation includes, among other things, approval process modifications related to AESO costs and transmission needs, some clarification related to transmission planning, and direction related to mandatory reliability standards. A more detailed listing of changes can be viewed in the attached comparison document that shows the differences between the 2004 and the 2007 Transmission Regulations.
In some cases, the AESO has begun stakeholder consultation to develop specific measures to implement the new changes to the Transmission Regulation. In other cases, consultation has not begun and new initiatives will be started soon. The AESO will be providing future updates regarding our consultation and project activities that will be ongoing through 2007 to implement these important changes.
The Transmission Development Policy and the Transmission Regulation can be found on the Alberta Department of Energy website.
