Ancillary Services procurement
Ancillary services are essential for providing Albertans with safe, secure and reliable electricity. These services include Operating Reserve, Transmission Must-Run, Black Start services, and Load Shed Services for imports.
We are committed to using a fair and transparent competitive procurement process for ancillary services whenever possible.
Load Shed Services for imports
The AESO opened a competition to procure Load Shed Services for imports (LSSi) for 2019 and subsequent years. A Request for Expressions of Interest (REOI) stage opened on May 1 and closed May 14, 2018. The AESO thanks all parties who submitted EOI forms for their interest in the competition and valued feedback.
The Request for Proposals (RFP) stage opens June 1, 2018 and will run through a SharePoint portal. Interested parties must register for SharePoint and sign the SharePoint Agreement to participate in the competition. To register for SharePoint access, please email LSSi@aeso.ca with the subject line “Request to Register for LSSi SharePoint."
On May 8th, 2018, the AESO hosted a Load Shed Services for imports information session. Click to view the presentation and webinar recording. Additionally, the AESO has provided an LSSi FAQ document to address questions received at the information session and the questions received at LSSi@aeso.ca.
