    Mothballing

On June 7, 2016, Section 306.7 of the ISO rules, Mothball Outage Reporting, became effective. Section 306.7 was then revised and the new rule came into effect on May 28, 2018. The rule allows pool participants to take mothball outages.

The review of mothball outage reporting requirements was put on hold during the capacity market consultation. The AESO is re-initiating its review of the mothball rule to address stakeholder concerns raised in past consultations and to determine whether revisions to the mothball rule are required. See the 2020-2021 Plan for Market-Related Initiatives for additional information.
