    Market Tools User Group

    Purpose

The purpose of this engagement is to better understand the operational needs of AESO market tool users. We will establish and work with a market tools user group* to build this understanding, improve and evolve our market tools.

*For the purposes of this engagement, a “user group” is defined as the community of users of a software solution.

    Background

Further to market participant and user feedback, the AESO released a Market Update to all stakeholders outlining that it would be kicking off a stakeholder engagement initiative aimed at enhancing our market tools.

    Scope

The scope of this engagement will be focused on all software solutions the AESO provides to support and enable market tools to market participants.

    Next steps

The AESO thanks all who participated in the Nov. 4, 2021 Kick-off Session and provided feedback. Based on what we heard:

    • Market Tools User Groups "Focus Groups"
      • The AESO will launch Market Tools User Groups "Focus Groups" as needed to dive deep into topics where participant needs should play a strong role in setting goals.
      • Each focus group will have a clearly defined scope targeting a specific audience and will be open to all market participants. All market participants are considered members of the Market Tools User Groups, therefore no enrollment will be required.
      • Each focus group will use a variety of tools, from online surveys to live brainstorming sessions, as best suits the topic under discussion and the progress on the topic.
      • Each focus group will report out on its progress and findings to all participants and accept comments from those not actively contributing to the focus group.
      • Focus group activities will also be summarized in the quarterly progress updates and posted on the website.
    • The AESO will also publish a quarterly summary on its website including updates from the past quarter and promoting any upcoming activities. Participation details for upcoming activities will be included.
    • The below Engagement schedule will be updated with activities as information becomes available.
    • Updates to the website will be promoted in the stakeholder newsletter.
