Automated Dispatch and Messaging System ("ADaMS") Technical Upgrade
Given the current circumstances of COVID-19, the AESO is postponing the rollout of the ADaMS Upgrade. The ADaMS Integration accounts that have been assigned to participants for testing will remain open so that participants can continue testing. Revised dates for the rollout as well as a deadline to complete testing will be communicated once those dates have been determined.
Description of changes
The user interface of ADaMS will remain unchanged; however, the system is being upgraded as described below:
- The ADaMS legacy technology stack will be upgraded to provide upgraded browser support for participants. This technology stack upgrade will also allow for future modernization enhancements to ADaMS that would have not previously been possible.
- The communication framework between our Dispatch Tool used by our System Controllers and ADaMS will be more robust.
- Adobe has announced that they will stop updating and distributing their Flash Player at the end of 2020. As a result, the dependency of Flash Player for alarms and Dispatch Variance Notifications (DVN) within ADaMS will need to be removed.
Impact of changes - Discontinuation of older versions of Internet Explorer
As a consequence of this change, any Participants using an older version of Internet Explorer (version 6 – 10) will need to upgrade to Internet Explorer version 11.
Participants interested in testing their systems prior to the rollout will be able to access our ADaMS Integration environment. The ADaMS Integration environment will be accessible for participant testing starting on March 2 and ending when a date has been determined. Participants must fill out the registration form at the link below and submit it to the AESO to register for this access no later than February 14, 2020.
Discontinuation of ADaMS support on older versions of Internet Explorer
For Participants that experience issues upgrading to a new browser version and require more time to configure and adjust their systems, the AESO will continue to support ADaMS on older versions of Internet Explorer for a limited period of time. The AESO’s system will detect if the user is attempting to access ADaMS using an old version of their browser and will automatically redirect them to the old ADaMS page which will continue to function as it does today (including requiring Flash Player).
Discontinuation of the support of ADaMS for older versions of Internet Explorer will be communicated once a date has been finalized. The discontinuation is expected to be before the end of 2020.
