Incremental Available Transfer Capability Risk Mitigation Measures

Two new procedures have been implemented for the Available Transfer Capability (ATC) on the combined British Columbia and Montana transfer path:

    • ATC will be reduced to 550 MW if inclement weather conditions are present or forecast near 1201L to mitigate potential reliability impacts related to lightning strikes. ATC will be increased when lightning storms have passed.
    • ATC will potentially be reduced in response to low system inertia, the reduced ATC will be established based on real-time inertia calculations.

Market participants will be notified when the amended operating procedures are formally implemented.
