Thickwood Hills 240 kV Transmission Development (1186)

On December 16 2014, the AESO filed its Needs Identification Document (NID) for transmission development in the Thickwood Hills area near Fort McMurray, with the Alberta Utilities Commission (AUC). On March 12, 2015, the AUC approved the AESO’s NID.

Please see the documents below for more information on the need for this development.

ATCO Electric Ltd (ATCO) is the transmission facilities owner (TFO) in the area. While the AESO is responsible for identifying that transmission system development is needed, ATCO is responsible for detailed siting and routing, constructing, operating and maintaining the associated transmission facilities. ATCO is currently in the process of obtaining its required regulatory approvals. Please visit ATCO’s website at www.atcoelectric.com for further information.
