Transmission Enhancements in the West Edmonton Area (1649)

EPCOR Distribution and Transmission Inc. (EPCOR) has applied to the AESO for transmission system access to reliably serve growing demand for electricity in the west Edmonton area. EPCOR's request can be met by the following solution:

• Add a new 72 kilovolt (kV) transmission line from the existing Poundmaker substation to the existing Meadowlark substation.
• Upgrade the Poundmaker substation, including adding one 240/72 kV transformer, one 240 kV circuit breaker and one 72 kV circuit breaker.
• Modify the Meadowlark substation, including adding two 72 kV circuit breakers.
• Upgrade the existing Garneau substation, including replacing three existing 72/14.4 kV transformers with three 72/14.4 kV transformers of higher capacity.
• Add or modify associated equipment as required for the above transmission developments
