Base Cases
2013 Planning Base Case Suite
The AESO 2013 Planning Base Case Suite is an annually-published Base Case suite aligned with AESO’s redesigned Connection Process and the corresponding redesigned system planning processes. The Planning Base Case suite ensures a consistent starting-point for all planning functions, including internal Long-term Planning and System NIDs, as well as the external completion of Connection Proposals and NIDs. The suite comprises Summer Peak, Summer Light, and Winter Peak cases for each of the two-year, five-year and ten-year planning horizons, and a Winter Peak case for the twenty-year planning horizon. The suite also contains a set of auxiliary data archives containing additional information and data to be used with the base cases.
2015 Planning Base Cases
The AESO Planning Base Cases are provided in the formats of PSSE version 33 SAV file with powerflow and sequence data included. For compatibility with stakeholders using software not compatible with PSSE version 33, version 32 files have also been included. The topology in the base case suite includes all projects having passed Gate 2 of the Connection Process as of 25 November 2012, and having a planned in-service date prior to 1 November 2015 (prior to 1 April 2016 for the Winter peak case).

The 2015 base cases, or study cases that have been developed from these cases, can be corrected for any errors identified to date by applying Errata files provided below. A set of such Corrected Base Cases is also provided here, comprising the Revision 1 2015 Planning Base Cases provided above, with the appropriate errata file already implemented in each case.

2013 Planning Base Case Suite Auxiliary Files (May 2013)
The main auxiliary data archive contains a cover report describing the base cases. All engineers planning to use the base cases to perform power system studies should refer to the cover report for background information essential to understanding the context and limitations of the base cases. The main auxiliary data archive also contains errata files which must be applied to the base cases as the first step in preparing a Study Case Suite from the base cases.

Dynamics
Dynamic data is included in DYRE format, and should be used together with the GNET "IDEV" file included in the archive. Dynamic data is a superset of all machine and constrol system models required for any of the published Planning Base Case Suite or the Operations Planning Seasonal Peak Base Cases.
