    Energy market trading charge

    The AESO recovers the costs of operating the real-time energy market through an energy market trading charge on all electricity traded.

    In addition to the recovery of the AESO’s operating costs, the energy market trading charge also includes charges from the Alberta Utilities Commission (AUC) and the Market Surveillance Administrator (MSA).

    The AESO energy market trading charge for 2017 is 33.2¢ per MWh traded.
