Transmission Enhancements in the Grande Cache Area (3072)

ATCO Electric Ltd. (ATCO) has applied to the AESO for transmission system access to reliably serve new and growing demand for electricity in the Grande Cache area. ATCO’s request can be met by the following solution:

•  Add a substation, to be designated as Pearson 2089S substation, including one 144/25 kV transformer, four 144 kV circuit breakers, and two 144 kV capacitor banks. 
• Add one 144 kV transmission line, to connect the proposed Pearson 2089S substation to the existing 144 kV transmission line 7L40 using a T-tap configuration.
• Modify Simonette 733S substation, including adding one 144 kV capacitor bank and one 144 kV circuit breaker.
• Modify H.R. Milner 740S substation, including adding one 144 kV capacitor bank and one 144 kV circuit breaker.
• Add or modify associated equipment as required for the above transmission developments.
