    The AESO is committed to helping market participants prepare for the transition to Alberta’s Restructured Energy Market (REM). 

    To support that work, the AESO offers free learning resources that offer both an introduction to the REM and deeper insights into how the market will operate as an integrated system. These resources can be accessed through Workday.

    Course Details

    1. REM Foundations: Purpose, Structure and Price Signals

    This high-level introductory course provides an overview of the core system-level features that describe how the REM functions as an integrated market.

    2. REM Operations: Inputs, Real-Time Market Clearing, and Prices

    This course provides an overview of the core real-time market processes that determine dispatch and pricing outcomes in the REM, including:

    • Real-Time Offers and Bids
    • Co-Optimizing Energy and R30 through Security Constrained Economic Dispatch (SCED)
    • Alberta Load Price (ALP)
    • R30 Demand Curve
