Action required: Review corrected future NSI schedules in ETS
The AESO has corrected affected future start and end times on Net Settlement Instructions (NSIs) submitted before the October 7, 2026 Energy Trading System (ETS) update.
The October 7 update caused future times originally entered in Mountain Standard Time (MST, UTC-7) to display one hour later. The affected times have now been restored to their originally submitted clock times, interpreted in UTC-6.
For example, a time originally submitted as 00:00 MST that subsequently displayed as 01:00 has been corrected to 00:00 UTC-6.
What market participants need to do
Review your future NSI start and end dates and times in ETS to confirm they match your intended schedules.
- You do not need to deregister and recreate NSIs corrected by this update. This replaces our previous instruction to update or resubmit those affected NSIs.
- If the corrected dates and times match your intended schedule, no further action is required.
- If they do not match, contact info@aeso.ca with the NSI number and your intended start and end dates and times.
ETS time-zone display
ETS continues to use UTC-6 year-round, displayed as MDT. This is the same offset as Alberta Time (ABT). ETS will not move back to UTC-7 on November 1, 2026.
Reminder: Other submissions
This correction applies only to NSIs. Please continue reviewing applicable future outage, derate and testing submissions and correcting any dates, times or hourly values that do not match your intended schedules.
